Roof Waterproofing

The Kingspan Thermaroof TR26 is compatible with most mechanically fixed single–ply waterproofing membranes.

Water Vapour Control

Installation Guidelines: New Build Roofs: For new build applications, a separate vapour control layer is recommended unless the board is installed over a sealed metal deck. A condensation risk analysis should be completed for each project to confirm appropriate installation methods.

Refurbishment Projects with Existing Insulated Flat Roofs or Insulated Steel Faced Composite Panels: When upgrading existing insulated flat roofs or steel-faced composite panel roofs, conduct a U-value calculation and condensation risk assessment. These evaluations determine the correct insulation thickness to achieve required thermal performance whilst preventing interstitial condensation.

Installation over Existing Bituminous Waterproofing Roof Membrane: Where TR26 is installed over an existing bituminous waterproofing membrane in good condition, the membrane can function as a vapour control layer. If the membrane is compromised, install a separate vapour control layer.

Minimum Requirements for Separate Vapour Control Layer: A separate vapour control layer should comprise a 1000 gauge (250 micron) polythene sheet. All joints must be lapped and sealed with double-sided self-adhesive tape for optimal performance.
