70mm Kingspan Thermaroof TR26 performs effectively with most mechanically fixed single–ply waterproofing membranes.
Installation Guidelines: New Build Roofs: For new build flat roof installations using Kingspan Thermaroof® TR26, a separate vapour control layer is typically recommended unless the board sits directly on a sealed metal deck. A condensation risk assessment should be completed for every project to confirm correct installation practice.
Refurbishment Projects with Existing Insulated Flat Roofs or Insulated Steel Faced Composite Panels: When adding roof insulation to existing insulated flat roofs or insulated steel faced composite panel roofs during refurbishment, a U-value calculation and condensation risk assessment are essential. These analyses determine the correct insulation thickness for meeting thermal requirements whilst preventing interstitial condensation.
Installation over Existing Bituminous Waterproofing Roof Membrane: When Kingspan Thermaroof® TR26 is installed over an existing bituminous waterproofing membrane during refurbishment, the membrane can function as a vapour control layer provided it remains in good watertight condition. Should the membrane be compromised, a separate vapour control layer must be installed.
Minimum Requirements for Separate Vapour Control Layer: Where a separate vapour control layer is required, use a 1000 gauge (250 micron) polythene sheet. All joints must be overlapped and sealed with double-sided self-adhesive tape for optimal performance.
