The 135mm Kingspan Thermaroof TR26 performs reliably with most mechanically fixed single–ply waterproofing membranes.
Installation Guidelines: New Build Roofs: For new build roof installations of Kingspan Thermaroof® TR26, a separate vapour control layer is typically recommended unless the product is applied over a sealed metal deck. Each project should include a condensation risk assessment to confirm appropriate installation methodology.
Refurbishment Projects with Existing Insulated Flat Roofs or Insulated Steel Faced Composite Panels: When adding roof insulation to existing insulated flat roofs or insulated steel faced composite panel roofs, U-value calculations and condensation risk analysis are mandatory. These evaluations establish the correct insulation thickness for meeting thermal requirements whilst preventing interstitial condensation.
Installation over Existing Bituminous Waterproofing Roof Membrane: For refurbishment applications where Kingspan Thermaroof® TR26 is placed over existing bituminous waterproofing membranes, the existing membrane may function as a vapour control layer provided it maintains watertight integrity. Where membrane condition is compromised, a separate vapour control layer must be installed.
Minimum Requirements for Separate Vapour Control Layer: Where a separate vapour control layer is required, specify a 1000 gauge (250 micron) polythene sheet. All joints require lapping and sealing with double-sided self-adhesive tape for optimal performance.
