120mm Kingspan Thermaroof TR26 functions effectively with most mechanically fixed single–ply waterproofing membranes.
Installation Guidelines: New Build Roofs: For new build roof installations of Kingspan Thermaroof® TR26, a separate vapour control layer is typically recommended unless the product is used with a sealed metal deck. A condensation risk assessment should be completed for each specific project to confirm correct installation methodology.
Refurbishment Projects with Existing Insulated Flat Roofs or Insulated Steel Faced Composite Panels: When adding roof insulation to existing insulated flat roofs or insulated steel faced composite panel roofs during refurbishment, U-value calculations and condensation risk analysis are essential. These evaluations determine the correct insulation thickness for meeting thermal requirements whilst preventing interstitial condensation.
Installation over Existing Bituminous Waterproofing Roof Membrane: When Kingspan Thermaroof® TR26 is installed over an existing bituminous waterproofing membrane during refurbishment, the membrane can function as a vapour control layer provided it maintains good watertight condition. If the membrane is compromised, a separate vapour control layer must be installed.
Minimum Requirements for Separate Vapour Control Layer: Where a separate vapour control layer is required, specify a 1000 gauge (250 micron) polythene sheet. All joints must be overlapped and sealed using double-sided self-adhesive tape for optimal performance.
