50mm Kingspan Thermaroof TR26 performs effectively with most mechanically fixed single–ply waterproofing membranes.
Installation Guidelines: New Build Roofs: When installing Kingspan Thermaroof® TR26 on new-build roofs, a separate vapour control layer is typically recommended unless the system incorporates a sealed metal deck. A condensation risk analysis should be completed for each installation to verify appropriate specification.
Refurbishment Projects with Existing Insulated Flat Roofs or Insulated Steel Faced Composite Panels: For renovation work involving additional roof insulation over existing insulated flat roofs or steel-faced composite panel roofs, conducting a U-value calculation and condensation risk analysis is essential. These evaluations determine the correct insulation thickness for meeting thermal requirements whilst preventing interstitial condensation.
Installation over Existing Bituminous Waterproofing Roof Membrane: When applying Kingspan Thermaroof® TR26 over existing bituminous waterproofing in refurbishment projects, the existing membrane can function as a vapour control layer provided it remains in sound, watertight condition. Where the membrane shows deterioration, installing a separate vapour control layer is necessary.
Minimum Requirements for Separate Vapour Control Layer: Where a separate vapour control layer is required, specify a 1000 gauge (250 micron) polythene sheet. All joints must be overlapped and sealed using double-sided self-adhesive tape to ensure effective performance.
