This 40mm ecotherm eco versal product is ideal for new construction and thermal enhancement of existing building elements across multiple settings:
- The 40mm ecotherm floor insulation should only be positioned above the Damp Proof Membrane (DPM) and must not contact ground moisture.
- Where a concrete slab is present or specified, lay a protective membrane of minimum 500 gauge thickness over Eco-Versal before applying the screed.
- Our 40mm Ecotherm PIR insulation works with most Underfloor Heating Systems (UFH). A minimum 500 gauge polythene sheet must be laid over the 40mm Insulation Boards before UFH installation. Refer to your UFH system manufacturer's instructions during installation.
- Install a breathable membrane in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
- To reduce condensation risk, fit a Vapour Control Layer (VCL) behind the plasterboard. This may be unnecessary if using insulated plasterboard.
- Fix a Breathable Membrane according to manufacturer's instructions. For pitched roofs, lay the membrane over rafters and secure using tile or slate laths.
- Assess the need for a Vapour Control Layer (VCL) and/or undertile ventilation per BS 5250:2021 (Code of practice for control of condensation in buildings).
- For all over-rafter applications, secure 40mm ecotherm Roof Insulation using vertical counter battens, enabling traditional slate and tile lath fixing.
- Lay the breathable membrane directly on the 40mm Eco-Versal board before fitting counter battens. Alternatively, install counter battens on top of the 40mm PIR Board and drape the breathable membrane over them.
- Where low U-values are required, consider installing insulation between rafters combined with an Insulated Plasterboard such as Ecotherm Eco-Liner on the rafter underside for improved practicality.
