This 125mm board works well for new construction and thermal improvements to existing buildings. Suitable applications include:
- The 125mm ecotherm floor insulation should only be positioned above the Damp Proof Membrane (DPM). Avoid using it where ground moisture may make contact.
- When a concrete slab is present or specified, lay a protective membrane with a minimum thickness of 500 gauge over Eco-Versal before applying the screed.
- This 125mm Ecotherm PIR insulation works with most Underfloor Heating Systems (UFH). A minimum 500 gauge polythene sheet must be placed over the 125mm Insulation Boards before UFH installation. Check the UFH system manufacturer's guidance during installation.
- Secure a breathable membrane according to the manufacturer's instructions.
- Install a Vapour Control Layer (VCL) behind the plasterboard to reduce condensation risk. This may not be required if using insulated plasterboard.
- Fix a Breathable Membrane following the manufacturer's instructions. For pitched roofs, lay the membrane over the rafters and secure using tile or slate laths.
- Assess the need for a Vapour Control Layer (VCL) and/or undertile ventilation according to BS 5250:2021 (Code of practice for control of condensation in buildings).
- For all over-rafter applications, fix 125mm ecotherm Roof Insulation using vertical counter battens. This traditional method allows tile and slate laths to be secured properly.
- Lay the breathable membrane directly on the 125mm Eco-Versal board before installing counter battens. Alternatively, install counter battens on top of the 125mm PIR Board, then drape the breathable membrane over the battens.
- Where low U-values are needed, combining rafter insulation with an Insulated Plasterboard such as Ecotherm Eco-Liner on the rafter underside may be more suitable.
