The 25mm EcoTherm Eco-Versal PIR delivers a comprehensive 5-in-1 insulation solution with a rigid polyisocyanurate (PIR) core and aluminium foil composite facing on both surfaces.

This 25mm PIR Insulation Board suits both new builds and thermal upgrades to existing structures, offering an economical approach to reducing CO2 emissions and meeting Building Regulations/Standards. The universal design of 25mm Ecotherm makes it suitable for pitched roofs, floors, walls, dormer cheeks, and ceilings.

Applications

This 25mm ecotherm eco versal product works well for new construction and thermal improvement of existing building elements. Typical applications include:

For floors | Moisture tolerance guidelines for Eco-Versal are as follows:

- The 25mm ecotherm floor insulation must be positioned above the Damp Proof Membrane (DPM) and should not be installed where ground moisture exposure is possible.

- Where a concrete slab is present or specified, apply a protective membrane of minimum 500 gauge thickness over Eco-Versal prior to screed application.

- Our 25mm Ecotherm PIR insulation is compatible with most Underfloor Heating Systems (UFH). A minimum 500 gauge polythene sheet must be placed over the 25mm Insulation Boards before UFH installation. Refer to the UFH system manufacturer's guidance during installation.

For Walls | The guidelines for breathable membrane and vapour control when using 25mm ecotherm Wall insulation are as follows:

- Secure a breathable membrane in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications.

- To prevent condensation buildup, install a Vapour Control Layer (VCL) beneath the plasterboard. This may be unnecessary if using insulated plasterboard.

For Roofs | Guidelines for using breathable membrane, vapour control, vertical battens, and insulation layers with Eco-Versal are as follows:

- Fix a Breathable Membrane per manufacturer's instructions. For pitched roofs, lay the membrane over rafters and secure using tile or slate laths.

- Assess the requirement for a Vapour Control Layer (VCL) and/or undertile ventilation according to BS 5250:2021 (Code of practice for control of condensation in buildings).

- For all over-rafter applications, 25mm ecotherm Roof Insulation must be secured using vertical counter battens. This method enables traditional slate and tile lath fixing.

- Position the breathable membrane directly on the 25mm Eco-Versal board before installing counter battens. Alternatively, install counter battens on top of the 25mm PIR Board and drape the breathable membrane over them.

- Where low U-values are required, consider installing insulation between rafters combined with Insulated Plasterboard such as Ecotherm Eco-Liner on the rafter underside for improved performance.
