The 60mm EcoTherm Eco-Versal PIR delivers a comprehensive 5-in-1 insulation solution with a rigid polyisocyanurate (PIR) core and dual aluminium foil composite facing, containing no fibres.

This 60mm PIR Insulation Board suits both new builds and thermal upgrades to existing structures, offering an economical approach to lowering CO2 footprints and meeting Building Regulations/Standards. The universal design of 60mm Ecotherm makes it perfect for insulating pitched roofs, floors, walls, dormer cheeks, and ceilings.

Applications

This 60mm ecotherm eco versal product works well across new construction and thermal improvement projects for existing buildings. Suitable applications include:

For floors | Moisture tolerance guidelines for Eco-Versal are as follows:

- The 60mm ecotherm floor insulation must be positioned above the Damp Proof Membrane (DPM) and should not be exposed to ground moisture.

- Where a concrete slab is in place or specified, lay a protective membrane of minimum 500 gauge thickness over Eco-Versal before applying the screed.

- Our 60mm Ecotherm PIR insulation works with most Underfloor Heating Systems (UFH). A minimum 500 gauge polythene sheet must cover the 60mm Insulation Boards before UFH installation. Refer to your UFH system manufacturer's guidance during installation.

For Walls | The guidelines for breathable membrane and vapour control when using 60mm ecotherm Wall insulation are as follows:

- Install a breathable membrane according to the manufacturer's instructions.

- To reduce condensation risk, fit a Vapour Control Layer (VCL) behind the plasterboard. This may be unnecessary if using insulated plasterboard.

For Roofs | Guidelines for using breathable membrane, vapour control, vertical battens, and insulation layers with Eco-Versal are as follows:

- Secure a Breathable Membrane per manufacturer's instructions. For pitched roofs, lay the membrane over rafters and secure using tile or slate laths.

- Assess the requirement for a Vapour Control Layer (VCL) and/or undertile ventilation using BS 5250:2021 (Code of practice for control of condensation in buildings).

- For all over-rafter installations, secure 60mm ecotherm Roof Insulation using vertical counter battens. This traditional fixing method supports slate and tile laths.

- Lay the breathable membrane directly on the 60mm Eco-Versal board before installing counter battens. Alternatively, install counter battens on top of the 60mm PIR Board and drape the breathable membrane over them.

- For projects requiring low U-values, consider installing insulation between rafters combined with an Insulated Plasterboard such as Ecotherm Eco-Liner on the rafter underside for better practicality.
