This 90mm product works well for both new construction and thermal performance improvements to existing buildings. Typical uses include:
- The 90mm ecotherm floor insulation should only be positioned above the Damp Proof Membrane (DPM). Avoid placing it where ground moisture may make contact.
- Where a concrete slab is in place or planned, lay a protective membrane of at least 500 gauge thickness over Eco-Versal before applying the screed.
- This 90mm Ecotherm PIR product works with most Underfloor Heating Systems (UFH). A minimum 500 gauge polythene sheet must be placed over the 90mm Insulation Boards before UFH installation. Always follow the UFH system manufacturer's guidance during installation.
- Install a breathable membrane according to the manufacturer's specifications.
- To reduce condensation risk, fit a Vapour Control Layer (VCL) behind the plasterboard. This may be unnecessary if using insulated plasterboard.
- Secure a Breathable Membrane following manufacturer guidance. For pitched roofs, lay the membrane over rafters and secure using tile or slate laths.
- Assess the requirement for a Vapour Control Layer (VCL) and/or undertile ventilation using BS 5250:2021 (Code of practice for control of condensation in buildings).
- For all over-rafter applications, fix the 90mm ecotherm Roof Insulation with vertical counter battens. This traditional fixing method supports slate and tile laths.
- Lay the breathable membrane directly on the 90mm Eco-Versal board before installing counter battens. Alternatively, install counter battens on top of the 90mm PIR Board and drape the breathable membrane over them.
- Where low U-values are essential, consider installing insulation between the rafters and using an Insulated Plasterboard such as Ecotherm Eco-Liner on the rafter underside for improved practicality.
