The 180mm ecotherm eco versal works well for both new construction and enhancing the thermal efficiency of existing building components. Suitable applications include:
- The 180mm ecotherm floor insulation must be positioned above the Damp Proof Membrane (DPM) and must not be used where ground moisture contact may occur.
- Where a concrete slab is present or specified, lay a protective membrane with minimum 500 gauge thickness over Eco-Versal prior to screed application.
- Our 180mm Ecotherm PIR insulation works with most Underfloor Heating Systems (UFH). A minimum 500 gauge polythene sheet must be placed over the 180mm Insulation Boards before UFH installation. Refer to your UFH system manufacturer's instructions during installation.
- Install a breathable membrane in accordance with manufacturer's guidance.
- To reduce condensation risk, position a Vapour Control Layer (VCL) beneath the plasterboard. This may be unnecessary if using insulated plasterboard.
- Fix a Breathable Membrane according to manufacturer's instructions. For pitched roofs, position the membrane over rafters and secure using tile or slate laths.
- Assess the requirement for a Vapour Control Layer (VCL) and/or undertile ventilation using BS 5250:2021 (Code of practice for control of condensation in buildings).
- For all over-rafter installations, 180mm ecotherm Roof Insulation must be secured with vertical counter battens, enabling traditional slate and tile lath fixing.
- Lay the breathable membrane directly on the 180mm Eco-Versal board before installing counter battens. Alternatively, install counter battens on top of the 180mm PIR Board and drape the breathable membrane over them.
- For applications requiring low U-values, installing insulation between rafters combined with an Insulated Plasterboard such as Ecotherm Eco-Liner on the rafter underside may prove more effective.
