The 130mm EcoTherm Eco-Versal PIR board delivers a comprehensive 5-in-1 insulation solution with a rigid polyisocyanurate (PIR) core and aluminium foil composite facing on both surfaces.

This 130mm PIR Insulation Board suits both new builds and retrofit projects, offering an economical approach to improving thermal performance and meeting Building Regulations/Standards whilst reducing carbon footprint. The 130mm Ecotherm works across multiple applications including pitched roofs, floors, walls, dormer cheeks, and ceilings.

Applications

This 130mm ecotherm eco versal board works well for new construction and thermal upgrades to existing structures. Typical uses include:

For floors | Moisture tolerance guidelines for Eco-Versal are as follows:

- The 130mm ecotherm floor insulation must be positioned above the Damp Proof Membrane (DPM) and should not be exposed to ground moisture.

- Where a concrete slab is used or present, apply a protective membrane of at least 500 gauge thickness over Eco-Versal before applying the screed.

- This 130mm Ecotherm PIR board is compatible with most Underfloor Heating Systems (UFH). A minimum 500 gauge polythene sheet must cover the 130mm Insulation Boards before UFH installation. Refer to your UFH manufacturer's guidance during setup.

For Walls | The guidelines for breathable membrane and vapour control when using 130mm ecotherm Wall insulation are as follows:

- Install a breathable membrane according to manufacturer specifications.

- To reduce condensation risk, fit a Vapour Control Layer (VCL) behind the plasterboard, unless using insulated plasterboard which may eliminate this requirement.

For Roofs | Guidelines for using breathable membrane, vapour control, vertical battens, and insulation layers with Eco-Versal are as follows:

- Secure a Breathable Membrane per manufacturer instructions. For pitched roofs, lay the membrane over rafters and secure using tile or slate laths.

- Assess the requirement for a Vapour Control Layer (VCL) and/or undertile ventilation in line with BS 5250:2021 (Code of practice for control of condensation in buildings).

- For all over-rafter applications, fix 130mm ecotherm Roof Insulation using vertical counter battens, which enable traditional slate and tile lath fixing.

- Position the breathable membrane directly on the 130mm Eco-Versal board before fitting counter battens, or install counter battens on top of the 130mm PIR Board and drape the breathable membrane over them.

- For applications requiring low U-values, consider installing insulation between rafters combined with Insulated Plasterboard such as Ecotherm Eco-Liner on the rafter underside for improved performance.
