Unilin Thin-R FR/MG 50mm Flat Roof Insulation

50mm Unilin FR/MG Flat Roof Insulation Board is a premium Polyisocyanurate product featuring mineral-coated glass facers, engineered for performance beneath single-ply waterproofing systems and partially bonded built-up felt roof constructions.

These 50mm FR/MG roof insulation boards must be fixed using approved mechanical fasteners or adequately adhered. Assessment of vapour control layer requirements should follow National Building Regulations guidance.

Roof Design

Design considerations should align with BS 4841: Part 3 and Single Ply Roofing Association specifications.

Flat roofs require adequate and consistent fall gradients to prevent water pooling and ensure proper drainage.

Fire Performance

Fire classification for 50mm Unilin FR-MG, when assessed under EN 13501-5 and BS 476 Part 3 'External Fire Exposure Roof Test', will vary depending on the waterproofing system selected.

Vapour Control Layer

An approved continuous vapour control layer must be installed beneath the insulation (except over sealed metal deck systems). For mechanically fixed boards, employ a minimum 1000 gauge polythene vapour control layer, lapped and sealed with double-sided tape beneath the Roof insulation. At vertical upstands and service penetrations, the VCL should be extended upward and sealed to fully enclose the insulation layer before roof finishing.
