Suitability

The appropriate 75mm Heaveguard thickness depends on anticipated lateral movement and void recommendations specified by NHBC standards. Note that Heaveguard and similar compressible polystyrenes only compress meaningfully when loads exceed 20 kN/m2, with 50% compression occurring at 40 kN/m2. For this reason, 75mm Heaveguard is unsuitable for use beneath ground floor slabs, piled beams, or pile caps.
