The 30mm Unilin FR-BGM represents a key component within Unilin's extensive portfolio of high-performance flat roof boards, delivering substantial advantages for flat roof construction:
The 30mm Unilin Insulation Boards are engineered for compatibility with a broad spectrum of bitumen-based waterproofing systems. These installations typically employ a BS EN 13707:2013 type 3G perforated base layer or an equivalent proprietary system for roof waterproofing. During installation, position the fleece side facing upward. Full bonding represents an alternative installation method. For guidance regarding moisture and condensation management, consult BS 8217 specifications for reinforced bitumen membranes in roofing applications.
Flat roof design must incorporate adequate fall to prevent water pooling and ensure effective drainage.
The 30mm Unilin FR/BGM boards are engineered for roof decks with minimal foot traffic and low maintenance requirements. Where regular pedestrian access is required, appropriate walkways must be installed. Upon completion of roof construction, protective boarding should be installed if further on-site work is anticipated, protecting the roofing system integrity.
Built-up roofing systems require finishing with an appropriate reflective material such as stone chippings. Consult the system manufacturer for specific recommendations.
Fire classification, when assessed to EN 13501-5 and BS 476 Part 3 'External Fire Exposure Roof Test', depends upon the waterproofing system selected.
Decks require priming before application of hot bitumen for bonding the vapour control layer. Refer to BS 8217 for vapour control layer application procedures. Extend the VCL beyond the insulation and seal at the parapet wall.
