Bespoke 80mm rainscreen façade systems accommodate numerous construction possibilities, combining various materials with different methods for securing and positioning external cladding to the underlying structure. When fixings and supports penetrate the insulation layer to connect with the structural frame, they create thermal bridges that can reduce the overall thermal efficiency of the façade assembly. Whilst thermal isolators can help minimise these effects, the selection and positioning of fixings and supports may increase heat transmission through the façade, affecting the final U-value.
