  1. The 220mm Cordek Cellcore HX B is a lightweight EPS board for use beneath concrete beams and pile caps to prevent ground heave. Grade 24/32 handles concrete depths to 900mm and meets all performance requirements.
  2. This product is durable, BBA-certified, and NHBC-compliant, effectively minimising upward forces using patented technology.
  3. A selection of depths and grades are offered, adaptable to soil heave conditions and insulation requirements for pile caps or beams.
  4. Select the panel depth (85mm, 155mm, or 220mm) according to soil heave potential. Installation is straightforward with minimal dust generation during on-site cutting.
  5. Grade 24/32 indicates a safe load of 24 kN/m2 and fail load of 32 kN/m2. Safe load represents maximum force without failure, whilst fail load causes permanent deformation.
  6. The 220mm HX B exhibits low shrinkage characteristics and a plasticity index of 40-60.
  7. Manufacturing costs vary by grade and concrete depth, with Grade 7/10 offering the most economical option compared to higher grades: 9/13, 13/18, 18/24, 24/32, and 32/42.

Design Notes

Each 220mm Cellcore HX B grade is engineered to accommodate a specific concrete thickness, along with a live load allowance of 1.5 kN/m2, whilst experiencing minimal creep compression during a 16-hour curing phase. This is referred to as the "SAFE LOAD."

When the predetermined load is reached, the polystyrene legs of the Cordek panels will yield and collapse due to upward ground movement, a condition known as the "FAIL LOAD."

In structural design, the slab, beam, or pile cap must be engineered to withstand the difference between its self-weight and the fail load.
