1. 85mm Cordek Cellcore HX B is a lightweight EPS board for use beneath concrete beams and pile caps to prevent ground heave. Grade 7/10 is suitable for concrete up to 220mm thick, meeting all performance requirements.

Design Notes

Each 85mm Cellcore HX B grade is engineered for a specific concrete thickness, including a 1.5 kN/m2 live load allowance, with minimal creep compression over a 16-hour curing period. This is termed the "SAFE LOAD."

When the predetermined load is reached, the polystyrene legs of the Cordek panels yield and collapse due to upward ground movement, referred to as the "FAIL LOAD."

During structural design, the slab, beam, or pile cap must be engineered to handle the difference between its self-weight and the fail load.
