Preparation

Deploy netting on scaffolding to prevent polystyrene dispersal during windy conditions. A hot knife or hot wire cutter effectively minimises polystyrene offcuts, though standard knives work if necessary. Ideally, cut 240mm EPS insulation boards under cover to stop offcuts scattering.

EPS Insulation Application

Install EPS insulation boards strictly following manufacturer guidelines covering all design and application requirements. Initially, secure EPS boards to the substrate (masonry or timber) using mortar/adhesive or mechanical fixings.

After fixing boards to external walls, apply a protective outer layer such as mortar basecoat or netting to shield from excessive heat, moisture, and UV damage.
