20mm Grey Polystyrene (Graphite) represents a premium expanded polystyrene (EPS) board incorporating graphite particles for superior thermal performance. The integrated graphite delivers a distinctive grey appearance whilst reflecting radiant heat, boosting insulation effectiveness by up to 20% compared to standard white EPS insulation at the same thickness. This rigid closed-cell EPS formulation encapsulates air within each bead, and because air resists heat conduction effectively, it substantially reduces heat transfer rates.
Graphite particles embedded throughout the cell structure of 20mm Grey Polystyrene (Graphite) boards create reflective surfaces and a striking dark grey finish. As radiant heat passes through the 20mm graphite insulation, multiple reflections occur, dramatically slowing thermal transmission and maximising energy efficiency.
Within 20mm Grey Polystyrene (Graphite) boards, warm air travels an indirect route towards cooler zones, decelerating heat transfer and maintaining interior warmth. This mechanism delivers improved thermal conductivity of 0.031 W/mK, outperforming conventional 20mm expanded polystyrene boards.

Installation
The 20mm EPS boards are initially fixed to the substrate (masonry or timber) using mortar/adhesive, mechanical fixings, or a combination of both.
The 20mm expanded polystyrene boards should then be covered with an outer layer, such as siding or a mortar layer.
The outer surface of the board needs to be rasped or sanded to create an abrasive surface before covering it with fiber mesh, to which the base coat or mortar layer is applied.
